—— HOW THE PROCEDURE WORKS
Step by step — what happens in theatre.
Step 1 — Spinal / epidural block
The anaesthesiologist administers a spinal injection or epidural catheter. The lower body becomes numb within minutes. Light sedation keeps you relaxed.
Step 2 — 7 mm portal placement
Dr. Sayuj makes a 7 mm incision and guides a tubular trocar to the disc level under fluoroscopic guidance. No muscle is cut.
Step 3 — Endoscopic decompression
An HD endoscope is passed through the trocar. The herniated fragment, bone spur, or thickened ligament is removed under direct vision.
Step 4 — Real-time nerve check
Because you are awake, Dr. Sayuj can ask in real time whether leg pain has resolved. This live feedback is impossible under general anaesthesia.
Step 5 — Closure
The trocar is removed. The 7 mm incision is closed with a single stitch. Total theatre time: 60–90 minutes for most disc cases.
